Barbara Swisher Amundson is an award-winning children’s author.
Raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Barbara earned her BA at the University of Jamestown where she was admitted to the rank of College Fellow. She was selected for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for her academic excellence.
Barbara was the founder & owner of Swisher Law Firm in Rochester, Minnesota, where she specialized in family law. During her tenure, she was a strong advocate for families with young children. Barbara retired in 2016.
In 2023 Barbara started working on, Stanley’s Standing Ovation!, a story inspired by her grandchildren Gabe and Emmett. On June 19, 2025, she released her second book in the series, with Stanley’s brother Alfie in the spotlight. Alfie Saves the Day! tells the tale of an organic garden and the challenges that sometimes entails.
Barbara is a “Read with Me” volunteer, helping children read and comprehend English, and works with an “Earn & Learn program to assist women facing an unplanned pregnancy.
Barbara and her husband Kevin split time between Rochester, Minnesota, and Palm Springs, California. She enjoys writing, oil painting and golfing.
